Multimedia Sources for Info Literacy

Info Lit Activities

I am always on the lookout for new hands-on activities that I can use during instruction sessions.  Some of these involve multimedia, and some don't.  Just like the use of multimedia, activities help address different learning styles.

Conept mapping is a great technique to teach students who are just beginning a research project.  Concept mapping gives a visual representation of how a topic and sub-topic are related.

Information Literacy Activities from the UWM Libraries

The great thing about this list of info lit activities from the University of Milwaukee libraries is that they also include sample assessment forms- always a nice bonus in an academic setting

Lesson Plans at LibraryInstruction.com

These lesson plans cover all levels of learners and all sorts of topics.  I am partial to "Remember the Gin and Tonic": Using alcohol to teach Boolean searching!  Use with caution of course!

Conducting a Literature Review Tutorial

This tutorial has a series of "modules" that help students understand what a literature review is and how to identify sources.  Each module contains review questions at the end.  Very nicely done tutorial.
