Info Lit in General

Page history last edited by Laurie Sabol 9 mos ago

I'm a big fan of this video about how not to conduct yourself in an IL session. Found via a message sent to ILI-L last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFOT5De1o58. Thanks to Meghan Sitar, Instruction and Outreach Librarian at UT Austin for the original post.

A Vision of Students Today

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGCJ46vyR9o

A wonderfully thought-provoking video about the changing nature of learning and students today.  Created by students in a digital ethnography class from Kansas State University.  The video currently has nearly 3 million views.  Great for discussion among professionals, but can also be used to stimulate discussion about learning in the classroom.

Metaphysics of Media

This video was created in response to "A Vision of Students Today."  It refutes many of the claims and implications of the Vision video.  These videos together are an outstanding exploration of the current state of thouhgt on learning and education.

This video is a great intro to information literacy!  I've began classroom discussions about information literacy by using this video.

Ted Koppel on Information Overload

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv99WA0xyNk

A clip from an older Nightline program.  The images are dated, but the concept is still dead-on.  A decent video for introducing the concept of information overload.
